Study shows increases for 2010

With 2009 going down in my books as being the worst year ever for getting TD work - even worse than after the bombings of 9/11 in 2001, I was happy to read a recent article that showed some optimistic numbers for 2010. They weren't numbers that indicated that everyone would be back to work at previous levels, but they seem to indicate that the worst is over and work will see an increase in 2010. To read the article about how many businesses are predicting an increase, use the following link to access it.

I think all of us want to put 2009 behind us. It has been far the worst year in my 10 year in the industry. 2010 personally is looking up and I am also finding last minute pop up stuff is happening. So chin up the bumpy ride is almost over...

My 2010 is still blank. Are your jobs in 2010 coming from local temp agencies for one-day meeting staff - or are you starting to get booked for full-fledged, fly-in, multi-day meetings??

personally, i am getting booked for fly-in, mult-day meetings. only have a few contracted at the moment, but these are enough for me to feel better about 2010. how are things going for others?

If 2010 is getting better that is great. I don't see it and I work in several countries in several languages. That is good news. I personally am using the time to perfect languages I don,t use as often and learn a new one as well as upgrade everything.
I have also learned it is always good to let the industry close to whom be part of your network. Thanks to my local industry I am getting some work.
Good luck everyone and lets hope we can all rige the storm

To the person with passport #10852, I am happy to read your post. First of all, the fact that you are getting fly-in, multi-day meetings, means that not every planner is going to try to staff their programs with only local temp workers. Secondly, the fact that you wrote "enough for me to feel better about 2010", means that you weren't one of those seemingly "golden TDs" who managed to work all through 2009, while many of us have done nothing but sit home. Apparently, you must have sat home some yourself if you have only a few booked for 2010, but see that as an improvement. It makes me believe that if it could start to happen for you, it can maybe start to happen for me. Thanks for sharing.
