Executive Director for International Network of Travel Directors

After ten years of working with the top level travel directors, meeting managers and tour guides, founding Executive Director Alison Ray, CMP knew there had to be a more efficient and manageable way to find qualified and experienced on-site logistics staff.

 

Alison spent the first six years of her career as an Operations Manager at a boutique meeting & incentive planning firm based in Dallas, TX. In addition to her daily planning responsibilities she became the company’s liaison for networking with and interviewing freelance travel directors. 

 

In 2003 she continued her career by moving to Chicago, Illinois and becoming Joint Managing Partner of Metropolitan Meetings & Incentives, LLC. As a business owner she continued being responsible for hiring and interviewing travel directors over the next five years.

 

While Alison had developed her own database of travel directors and tour guides throughout the years, the challenge of finding new candidates was always a struggle. Based on clients’ budget constraints, contracting travel directors or tour guides located in the host city became a frequent occurrence and necessity. Additionally, finding qualified staff for short term business was constantly a challenge. How do you find qualified, professional candidates?? The only viable resource was referrals and word of mouth.

 

Alison has a true commitment and passion for increasing awareness and encouraging independent and corporate meeting planners and tour companies to partner with professional freelance travel directors and tour guides.  From the very first program when she hired a freelance TD, Alison realized how important it was to partner with an industry professional whose focus and experience was on-site logistics. Never had any of her previous programs run as smoothly and she knew that this was one of the best investments she could offer her clients moving forward. In 2008, Alison along with professional Travel Director, Megan Moiles launched INTDONLINE.COM, an online network dedicated to connecting freelance travel directors with meeting planners for the purpose of increasing professional development and providing job opportunities.
